Ultrasound - GYN

Augusta Health Care for Women is an OB/GYN accredited practice for ultrasound by American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). Accreditation by the AIUM demonstrates clinical excellence and commitment to the highest quality patient care when providing diagnostic ultrasound services.
We offer state-of-the-art, next-generation ultrasound equipment, and our sonographers are licensed and experienced in obstetric and gynecologic ultrasounds.
Below is some important information regarding your ultrasound appointment.
All Ultrasounds
Since this is diagnostic testing, up to two (2) guests may accompany you for your ultrasound, and no children under the age of five (5). Please note, in the event an accompanying guest creates a distraction, our sonographers will ask them to return to the waiting room until the testing is completed. Additionally, all cell phones must remain OFF during your ultrasound exam.
COVID-19 restrictions may affect these visitor policies.
GYN Ultrasounds
- Typically, GYN ultrasounds are performed vaginally and therefore a full bladder is NOT required.
- An exception to this is for our adolescent patients, which will require the patient to finish drinking 40 ounces of any liquid (not milk) 30-45 minutes prior to the ultrasound.
- GYN ultrasounds are typically processed under the patient’s radiology benefits, and most often are subject to your deductible. We will attempt to estimate the amount due and collect that at check in for your visit.
